HATCHED (2021) Review and overview of British dinosaur terror

‘The discovery of a lifetime could destroy mankind’

Hatched is a 2021 British action monster movie about a small group of desperate people under attack from a rapidly-growing ravenous T-Rex.

Written, produced and directed by Scott Jeffrey (Cannibal Troll; Rats RebornBad Nun: Deadly VowsDon’t SpeakCupid) and Rebecca Matthews (Witches of Amityville AcademyThe Candy WitchPet Graveyard).

The Proportion Productions movie stars Derek Nelson (A Werewolf in England; The Utah Cabin Murders; Werewolves of the Third Reich), Megan Purvis (Devil Djinn; Rise of the MummyThe Young Cannibals), Nicola Wright (Amityville Cornfield; Medusa: Queen of the Serpents; Cupid), Amanda-Jade Tyler (The Mutation; Bats; Conjuring the Genie; Witches of Amityville Academy) and Richard Kovacs.

An obsessive scientist discovers a way to bring dinosaurs back to life and when his family comes to visit, they find him dead, eaten by his creations.

Now the army and their chief scientist must figure out how to keep the dinosaurs contained and then destroy them before they escape and head for the city where total destruction would occur…

“The dinosaurs just show up, kill, people run away, rinse and repeat. Hatched blatantly takes from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom whether it is the isolated home full of dinosaurs, the secret cloning experiment, raptors opening doors, and still makes all that influence boring […] There are moments though when it feels like the production’s heart is not in a project and it is instead a job for pay, putting out a product regardless of the quality. Hatched feels like a movie that was a throwaway job…” Horror Buzz

Hatched is actually quite enjoyable in a cheesy, SyFy, B-movie way. It hits all the right notes, monsters and mad scientists performing dubious experiments explained with incomprehensible technobabble. And Castleford is near perfect as the batsh*t military figure drunk on his own authority.” Voices from the Balcony

An official release date will be announced soon.
