Reviews:
“With its cheap aesthetic, atrocious acting, insipid screenplay, and flat direction, Devilreaux is an embarrassment to all involved, especially Tony Todd, a fine actor who deserves better. The film’s ineptitude is made humorous by the end credits, during which director Churchill thanks several notable individuals “for inspiration” – Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, Clive Barker, and Joel Osteen.” 0.5 out of 4, The Aisle Seat

“Suffering mightily from its small budget, questionable performances, odd dialogue exchanges, and a general lack of suspense or direction, this supposed horror movie is laughable but also mostly dull […] And, in general, the movie’s chintzy look and awkward editing make things feel overwhelmingly amateurish.” 1 out of 5, Common Sense Media

” …the film is unintentionally comic in almost every facet. From a bad script to amateur acting performances to unconvincing special effects, it is quite evident that the film has been made on a shoestring budget and is expected to be watched as a TV film at best. It is best to avoid Devilreaux altogether…” DMT

“The antagonist is somewhat different, which is why this would have had potential. For incomprehensible reasons, the title character hardly gets anything to do. Instead, there are excessive backstory flashbacks.” 4 out of 10, Film Rezensionen

“In terms of production values, Devilreaux don’t have anything exceptional. The blood and guts look cheap, the editing feels choppy and the camera work is just as bland as the screenplay. At a running time of 1 hour and 34 minutes, which feels more like 3 hours, Devilreaux is a tedious, anaemic and lackluster B-movie that’s low on scares, thrills and surprises.” The NY City Movie Guru

” …Devilreaux, with its constraints of budget production, underwhelming performances, humdrum screenplay, and unimaginative direction, becomes an unfortunate blot in the resumes of everyone involved. Ultimately, the only redeeming quality I could find was the potential for an enjoyable New Orleans/voodoo-inspired villain, but that was squashed early on.” 1 out of 5, Overly Honest Movie Reviews

“Voodoo doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves from filmmakers, and when it does it usually doesn’t end well. Devilreaux is no exception, and after the character’s creation ends up mostly ignoring it. Instead, it resorts to a resurrection by way of Ouija Board and a bland, stereotypical supernatural slasher storyline. The result is a film that fails to even deliver a couple of jump scares or unintentional laughs.” 1 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
