Bad Blood: The Movie is a 2016 American sci-fi horror film with an amphibious twist; it’s a race against time to find the antidote. The onscreen title is just Bad Blood

Written, directed and co-produced by Tim Reis (Action Show Spook Show Spooktacular and producer of Adult Swim Yule Log; 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind); The Mind’s Eye; The Demon’s Rook).

The Black Rider Productions movie stars Kevin Galbraith, David Alexander, Grayson Kilpatrick, Michael Gladden, Mickie Banyas, Mary Malloy and Tomi Lavinder.

The effective synth soundtrack was composed by Christopher Ian Brooker (The Demon’s Rook ).

Plot:
Parents suspect drugs are behind their missing daughter (played by Mary Malloy) and hire a private investigator (Troy Halverson) to get her back. The reality, however, is much worse: a horrific amphibian attack has infected the girl with a mutagenic disease.

As the P.I. begins to connect her disappearance to unethical scientists and a secret laboratory, the disease takes its course, transforming her into a hideous monster and murderer…

Reviews:
“While the film seems like it was meant for a TV movie audience, I have to admire its ability to punch above its weight class. The use of practical effects alongside the impressive make-up creates a great low-grade horror film. It’s funny, but the humor doesn’t overpower. Give it a shot.” Anderson Vision

“With all three characters (including the werefrog) going at it in a free-for-all of gore, goo, and freaky plot twists, there’s plenty of fun to be had for one and all until the ironic fadeout. Tim Reis makes an impressive feature writing/directing debut, handling things with a nice visual flair that’s colorful and flamboyant. Performances are fine, particularly a heartfelt turn by Mary Malloy in the lead.” HK and Cult Film News

“I was confused for a good portion of it, but that’s because it moved too fast for a film about were-frogs […] I was not prepared – but who can be prepared for this? It parallels parent’s fears about addiction too, which makes it a conversation piece and adds a new level of appreciation. Overall, it’s a strange but interesting film…” Horror Habit

” …surprisingly little is made of the monster’s amphibious nature or any connection it might have with nature, the swamp and the moon. There’s a terrific giant frog monster in the laboratory, though – and a few brief creature glimpses (a webbed, clawed hand dropping into frame) are scarier than the full-on footage of rampaging, transformed Victoria (Josh Adam Gould).” The Kim Newman Web Site

” … a film that is in love with the Eighties – and more particularly with the outrageous Reagan-era body horror of Frank Henenlotter. Somewhere in there is an allegory of Victoria’s metamorphosis into independent womanhood, or of the ethical dilemmas faced by medical pioneers, or of the domestic mayhem engendered by non-legalised drugs – but it is probably best to ignore the subtext, and to embrace the silliness.” Projected Figures

“There is a lot of excessive pseudo-sciencey talk, a giant bull frog, and an escaped felon subplot that provided misdirection. The latter could have been more interesting if it turned out this was actually homicidal maniac P.I. Paul. There were a lot of missed opportunities here. Still, for all its faults, Bad Blood: The Movie is an entertaining creature feature that has enough in it to justify a watch for any true fans of the monster movie subgenre.” Fangoria

BadBlood

“Gleefully wearing its Frank Henenlotter influence like a dripping slimy crown, this is terrific splattery fun – well directed, with amusing performances and some great non-CGI effects. Full marks for Bad Blood.” House of Mortal Cinema

” … a film that is more about creature effects and gore than a well-developed story. Indeed, there are some scenes, such as Victoria’s transformation and the various gory kills that are top-notch. However, the rest of the film has a very B-movie plot, which is filled with bad acting and characters that are just there to be killed.” Sean Kelly on Movies
