Reviews:
Ship of the Damned is just okay. As Elena, Hannaj Bang Bendz is a star worth paying attention to. She’s also the main reason to watch this movie, because she is quite good. Overall though, Ship of the Damned is a fairly average low-budget movie that is worth checking out if the premise sounds particularly interesting to you…” Creepy Catalog

“All in all, the plot is weak and full of loose ends. It gives the impression that it needs a couple more rewrites to actually be done. The creation of the protagonist is significantly more solid, providing the movie with an interesting bait for the audience, and, even though it comes across as ridiculous sometimes, it is totally watchable…” Cut to the Take

” …sadly the ship is a combination of (actually pretty good) miniature work and the usual tightly shot confines of the director’s Creativ studio. As usual, Lawson makes the best of his meagre resources, and Bendz is a feisty lead, making use of her kickboxing skills at the movie’s climax, but this isn’t one of his best.” Dark Eyes of London

“…its the interplay between characters that really is the selling point and for me, Hannaj and Ben bouncing off one another, what could have been a stop-gap was so much more and really carried the film into the final third when we do get the bloody horror and action we all want and crave […] Ship of the Damned is a damn fine film and you should go seek out this film out its a voyage worth taking.” Eastern Film Fans

“Beautifully filmed […] with a great cast Ship of the Damned was so much fun to watch. Yes, it’s a film about a spooky ship, featuring bloodthirsty pirates, but the film has drops of humour which are perfectly placed, especially by Micheal (played by Jacob Anderton from Give Them Wings). The scenes between Elena and Michael are great, their dynamic is fun and anytime those two share the screen you know you are in for some great one-liners.” From Page 2 Screen

Ship of the Damned may not be high art, but it was fun and exciting, helped by a good choice of characters on the whole. I felt engaged with the protagonist’s plight, thought Manning made for a compelling (if stereotypical) antagonist and really liked how the film ended.” 7/10 The Rotting Zombie
