‘Evil must be known’
Know Fear is a 2021 American horror film about a family that discovers an occult book that unleashes a demonic force.
Directed by Jamison M. LoCascio from a screenplay co-written with Adam Ambrosio, the movie stars Amy Carlson, David Alan Basche, Mallory Bechtel and Jack DiFalco.
After discovering an ancient book of the occult in their new home, Donald Capel’s (David Alan Basche) wife Wendy (Amy Carlson) is seized by a demonic entity, nearly killing her.
Donald’s niece (Mallory Bechtel) activates a dangerous ritual in the book used to identify and banish demons, a ritual forcing each member of the family to communicate with the demon in their own unique way: to see it, hear or speak to it…
Reviews [click links to read more]:
“Know Fear starts off rough with a confusing prologue, and the plot is fairly predictable, though the ending lands perfectly. But the characters are all three-dimensional and likable, the direction keeps the atmosphere and tension high, and the cast shines in every scene. While flawed, horror fans will find a lot to appreciate here.” Film Threat
“There’s a sense that LoCascio had higher aspirations for Know Fear than what is achieved in the finished product. The director is capable of arranging tense and shocking moments, but without the strong emotional core and compelling characters, the overarching theme of familial connectedness in the face of adversity falls flat.” Rue Morgue
“Now Know Fear might not exactly re-invent the wheel, but it does what it has set out to do very well, and that’s to create a very effective mix of haunted house and demonic possession thriller, one that’s high on atmosphere but isn’t afraid to show the more visceral aspects of its story when needed.” Search MyTrash
“LoCascio keeps the film moving briskly at just under 80 minutes, and the performers do solid jobs in their roles. This is the third film of Ambrosio and LoCascio’s I’ve seen and another genre they are approaching. In Know Fear, they understand the mechanics of the horror genre, and there are moments of this film that pop off the screen with an effective sense of dread…” Sonic Cinema
“Much of the first half of Know Fear will feel familiar to anyone who’s seen more than a couple of demonic films. The cast however do a convincing job of selling the material and keeping it interesting […] We only see a couple of glimpses of the demon until the end. LoCascio makes good use of practical effects and lighting rather than resorting to CGI.” Voices from the Balcony
Know Fear will be available on Digital on March 12th, 2021, via Terror Films.
